Italpres' decision to have its own internal design workshop for mold designing for aluminium die casting is a guarantee of promptness in resolving any problems that might affect the equipment once it has reached the die-casting stage.
The internal workshop is also a production strategy in order to have control of the production process. A decision that prevents time from being wasted and potential misunderstandings, and at the same time provides the customer with a reliable, single interface able to handle the entire process at a more competitive price, in proportion to the technology used.
Italpres, since its establishment some 70 years ago, has equipped the department with state-of-the-art machinery that is constantly updated or replaced in light of technological innovations. The design workshop for mold designing for aluminium die casting has dedicated, highly specialised technical personnel who are subject to continuous training. In addition, there is a wide range of equipment available to specialist technicians of Italpres, many of which is technologically complex. Italpres can also just perform the die casting of an article if the customer already has the relevant equipment, as well as being able, if necessary, to work with third-party equipment.
What is needed for a good design?
Design the mold designing for aluminium die casting is the first stage in creating a mould. During this stage it is vital to check that there are no holes that may complicate or prevent the workpiece from being removed. In particular, it is necessary to avoid "undercuts" and to study draft angles, i.e. the presence of completely vertical walls, to ensure a certain "tapering" to facilitate the extraction of castings.
It is also necessary to evaluate weight, pressure, cooling times and many other variables when designing the mould. It is recommended to make sure that there are no parts of the die-cast object that are much larger than any other as this would lead to problems with non-uniform cooling of the workpiece.
